Civil Society in Albania: Navigating Democratic and Digital Change

The Country Mapping Albania Report, contributes Albanian findings and perspectives to a broader regional analysis that explores how democratic and digital transformations are reshaping civil society across 13 countries in Eastern Europe, the Western Balkans, the Black Sea region, the Caucasus, and Central Asia.

The report was developed as part of the Regional Support Mechanism EECA project that covers Albania, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Türkiye, and Ukraine.

The report offers a broader snapshot of Albania’s civil society sector, exploring the key developments, trends, and transformations that are reshaping civic action today. From democratic governance and civic participation to organizational sustainability, digital transformation, communication, digital security, countering disinformation, and artificial intelligence, the report provides a comprehensive picture of the environment in which civil society organizations operate.
